Visits with Spatz
The Character, The Story, The Book
Overview: Listeners will hear fun stories, watch Spatz share his antics, see the bookmaking / assembly steps, discuss the proper way to approach and pet a dog, participate in the Spatz Rap, and have a chance to say “Good-bye” to Spatz.
Goal: Listeners will be entertained, understand the story / bookmaking process, and have the opportunity to pet Spatz the correct way.
Time and Setting: Approximately 25 minutes in a classroom or library- or in a small auditorium with a lapel mic. Time for each student to greet Spatz at the conclusion of the visit should be added.
Testimonial
“Sherry Fair’s visit to Calhoun Academy was a great success! The students from kindergarten through high school were excited about seeing Spatz and learning about his adventures. Sherry shared with the students the process involved in writing a book, and she taught older students how to develop a character in their creative writings. Sherry’s teaching expertise was evident as she worked with all grade levels, and Spatz could not have behaved any better. He allowed students to pet him, and in return, he shared his “bacon trick”. Teachers and students have had positive comments about Sherry’s visit and are already asking when she and Spatz will return.
